SPICMACAY Virasat 2009 : S P I C M A C A Y is beginning its Virasat 2009 series in Delhi and all over the country in over 300 cities from August and it will continue till December 2009. In this series, various modules of our rich cultural heritage will be presented in schools and colleges. It will comprise of classical music and dance, folk, crafts, theatre, talks, film classics, workshops and intensives, yoga and meditation, holistic food and walks to heritage sites. About 1000 events will be conducted in India and abroad.

The inauguration of Delhi Virasat will be on 27th August with recitals by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. Other great maestros who will be performing in this series are Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Smt. Madhavi Mudgal, Smt. Shovana Narayan, Us.Fahimuddin Dagar, Guru Ghanakanta Bora, Smt. N.Rajam, Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Debu Chaudhuri, Smt. Teejan Bai, Shri Krushna Chandra Sahu among others.

This series has been dedicated to Us.Ali Akbar Khan , Smt. D.K.Pattamal, Smt. Gangubai Hangal, Sh. Habib Tanvir, Shri Vishnu Prabhakar, Shri Tyeb Mehta and Shri Palaghat Raghu. Virasat will aim at inspiring the younger generation and reach out the varied aspects of our composite heritage to them.
